Brown-Robertson Family papers, 1855-1973.

The collection consists of Brown and Robertson family genealogy information, along with the personal papers of Dr. Annie Isabel Robertson Dyer and her brother, Lafayette Janes Robertson, Jr. Dyer, Robertson, and their siblings were raised in Hartford and attended Hartford schools. Some of their schoolwork is among the papers. Dyer attended Simmons College in Boston and taught home economics at Hartford Public High School and Weaver High School. She received a PhD from Columbia University and taught for many years at Hillyer College (now part of the University of Hartford). Dyer recorded her college days, her career, and her time with her husband in a series of scrapbooks. Her correspondence relates to her time at Simmons, her teaching, and her service on the Governor's war council during World War I. Robertson's correspondence may be found within the collection. It is arranged alphabetically. Dyer and Robertson's siblings, parents, and several ancestors are all mentioned among the papers. The family's genealogy has been traced back to the Mayflower. Additionally, Robertson collected church bulletins from area churches, the bulk from Park Congregational Church and Horace Bushnell Congregational Church. Robertson's interests in music, poetry, and horticulture are also represented in the collection.

12 linear feet (20 boxes and 6 scrapbooks).
